Seeking for patient representative for Data and Safety Monitoring Board for clinical trial to deprescribe statins – January 2022 - September 2025, 5 meetings à 1-2h, CHF 100/h

Skills / interests: Clinical peer review

There is uncertainty around the risk/benefit of prescribing statins for primary prevention (i.e., without a previous history of cardiovascular event) in older persons. We therefore received funding to test the safety of deprescribing statins used for this indication. We are looking for a patient partner to be part of our Data and Safety Monitoring Board for a clinical trial to be conducted in Switzerland on statin deprescribing. The involvement will be 5 meetings à 1-2h each, with financial compensation of CHF 100/h. All meetings will be hold virtually in English. Preparation (0.5-1h) with protocol reading before the first meeting will be required without financial compensation.

Ideal applicant

Age 75 or older, taking a statin in primary prevention (= without having suffered from a stroke or heart attack), speaking English. Add-on skills: former clinical trial participant, prior experience as patient representative/partner in trials (or member of an organization/ group for patient perspectives in trials), higher education.
