Consumer input: Cannabis and cannabinoids for people with multiple sclerosis

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

Many people with MS experience muscle stiffness or spasms that are described as 'spasticity'. This may also cause pain and impact upon a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. Cannabis, or its sub‐ingredients called cannabinoids, are sometimes used by people with MS as a medical therapy to alleviate spasticity, chronic pain and other symptoms. This review was trying to find out if cannabinoids were better than placebo in adult people with MS to improve their symptoms, and additionally, if cannabinoids were associated with any harmful effects.

If you have personal or carer experience of this condition your comments would be very useful. Systematic review methodology expertise is not needed. If you are interested, we will send you the review and a comments checklist.  This task will take between two to three hours.
