Cochrane Vascular needs a Consumer Reviewer to comment on a review which compares different interventions for repairing aortic aneurysms

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

A thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) is a widening or swelling of a blood vessel 50% greater than the original vessel diameter, affecting the thoracic and abdominal aorta simultaneously. These are major blood vessels in the tummy area, and this can be life-threatening if left untreated.  It is sometimes tricky for surgeons to decide on the best treatment path for each patient. Significant complications may occur after both endovascular or open surgical repair. However, endovascular repair is less invasive, and for this reason, we aimed to determine if endovascular repair is a safer option for patients compared to open surgical repair. If you have personal or carer experience of this condition your comments would be very useful. Systematic review methodology expertise is not needed. If you are interested, we will send you the review and a comments checklist.  This task will take between two to three hours.
