Consumer input needed for a Cochrane Protocol on digital devices for adhering to tuberculosis treatment

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

I am seeking consumer input on a protocol looking at digital devices for improving patient's adherence to tuberculosis treatment.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of death in low‐ and middle‐income countries, despite the availability of effective treatments. Despite the availability of treatments for tuberculosis, some patients struggle to complete their treatment programmes. This protocol is to assess the effects of digital devices (including phone-based and smartphone-based technologies, digital pillboxes, ingestible sensors, and other devices) for improving patient's adherence to tuberculosis treatment.

Cochrane considers a consumer, in this case, to be a patient, a parent or carer of a patient. For consumer peer review, we will ask you to complete a short form with your feedback to ensure the review is accessible and relevant so that it will be helpful to patients and their carers/families with healthcare decision-making.

You are welcome to provide feedback on any aspect of the review, or you can focus your attention on the sections you feel are most relevant to consumers and stakeholders, such as Abstract, Plain Language Summary, and Conclusions. Our aim is for this to be a manageable task, that does not overburden consumer reviewers.

Thank you for considering this request.
